COMMENTS: I’m not sure I go whole hog for all that “people of the sun” and “people of the ice” stuff, but I know that until I went to live in New Orleans I was crazy about Ingmar Bergman films. Now, I know that the simple reason they are so depressing is the miserable gray, cold Northern Winters of Sweden. I can’t believe that when the Pilgrims came to Massachusetts they just didn’t make a left turn and head about 500 miles further South. My God! New England winters. What masochists they must have been.
